Temuera Derek Morrison, who was born on December 26, 1960, is a New Zealand actor who rose to prominence in New Zealand for his role as Dr. Hone Ropata in the soap opera Shortland Street. His critically acclaimed performances include Jake The Muss Heke in Once Were Warriors (1994) and its 1999 sequel What Becomes of the Broken Hearted?. Morrison gained international fame through his roles in the Star Wars franchise, where he portrayed Jango Fett and his genetic clones, such as the clone troopers and Boba Fett. He originated the role of Jango in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones. He voiced Boba Fett in The Empire Strikes Back (2004 re-release) and video games, and later starred as Boba in The Mandalorian (2019–present) and The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022). In 2022, Morrison appeared in a recurring role on Echo 3, a black ops thriller series. He provided the voice for Chief Tui, Moana's father, in the Disney film Moana (2016), and for playing Arthur Curry's father Tom Curry in the DCEU films Aquaman (2018), The Flash (2023), and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). Early life Morrison was born on 26 December 1960 in the town of Rotorua, on the North Island of New Zealand. He is the son of Hana Morrison (née Stafford) and musician Laurie Morrison. Morrison's heritage includes Māori whakapapa of Te Arawa (Ngāti Whakaue) and Tainui (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Rarua), along with Scottish and Irish ancestry. He is related to performer Taini Morrison (sister) and musician Sir Howard Morrison (uncle). He attended Wesley College in Auckland and Western Heights High School in Rotorua for his secondary education.
